		<description>I'm looking for ideas on the best way to juice beets. &amp;nbsp;I would think they would need to be peeled first but I'm not sure. &amp;nbsp;Will the skins make the juice bitter if I leave it on? &amp;nbsp;</description>

		<description>Hi,&lt;br&gt;I have just purchased a second hand but in brand new condition straight sided&amp;nbsp; Mehu-Maija Steamer/Juicer,which appears to be all stainless steel and dates from 1985.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Why has the named changed to Liisa,is there any difference?&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Also,I plan to make rosehip syrup,has anyone tried this,I can`t find any reference in the recipe book.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;I look forward to using this a lot next autumn. &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;</description>

		<description>I enjoy a cocktail every once in awhile. There are many variations one can use with juice made with the Mehu-Liisa. Because the juice is so rich and concentrated, their various flavors really stand out in drink recipes.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Here is my recipe for a shaken (not frozen) Strawberry Margerita:&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;1.5 oz 100% Agave Tequila&lt;br&gt;1.5 oz lemon or lime juice&lt;br&gt;1.5 oz strawberry juice from Mehu-Liisa (more to taste)&lt;br&gt;1 oz orange liquor&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Fill a shaker 1/2 full with chunk ice. Place all ingredients in the shaker. Shake for at least 30 seconds (feels like a long time). Pour into chilled Martini glasses (large).&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Enjoy! The official word is: Yes, you should water bath the jars of juice to be absolutely sure there is no chance of spoilage. Follow instructions in &lt;a target=&quot;_blank&quot; href=&quot;http://www.uga.edu/nchfp/&quot;&gt;Cooperative Extension literature&lt;/a&gt; on processing juice. &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Now, I personally do not water bath the juice. I draw off the juice into sterile bottles and use sterile lids. I wash the jars and put them in a 250 degree oven for 20 minutes. I wash lids and boil them for 15 minutes. I feel this is safe enough for me. HOWEVER, to be absolutely sure you MUST water bath your juice.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;I ALWAYS water bath any sauce, jam or jelly I make from the juice or the pulp leftover after processing. There is enough chance to introduce pathogens in the further processing involved to necessitate water bathing.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Always consult your &lt;a target=&quot;_blank&quot; href=&quot;http://www.csrees.usda.gov/Extension/&quot;&gt;Cooperative Extension&lt;/a&gt; guides for proper canning safety and procedures. 		<title>Removing hose for cleaning</title>

		<description>I don't usually remove my drain tube from the juicer as it is difficult to do and not really necessary to clean effectively. Also, removing the tube often may unnecessarily stress the material. However, if you really want to get the tube off then follow these steps:&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;- after draining juice and while juicer is still warm&lt;br&gt;- apply small amount of vegetable oil (do not use mineral as it will degrade the tube) to the area between end of tube and juice kettle&lt;br&gt;- gently work the tube to allow oil to penetrate between hose and spout&lt;br&gt;- wait awhile and then gently work tube off spout&lt;br&gt;-if tube is stubborn then you can pour vegetable down tube as well to work it in from both sides of where it attaches to the spout&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;If taking the hose off is to be done after every processing then apply a small amount of vegetable oil to the spout before  replacing the tube.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;There you go!&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Take Care&lt;br&gt;Daniel&lt;br&gt;</description>

		<title>blackcurrants</title>

		<description>&lt;DIV&gt;&lt;FONT size=2 face=Arial&gt;I &quot;juiced&quot; the harvest of blackcurrants from the garden ,&amp;nbsp; I let them steam until all the fruits were mushy, not sure how long, but the juice was fabulous&lt;BR&gt;the pulp I threw away, I suppose I could have added a little water to it and made a sort of jam, but didn't want all those pips.....&lt;BR&gt;&amp;nbsp; I added sugar to taste to some of the juice and brought it to the boil just to dissolve the sugar, makes a lovely drink.&lt;BR&gt;The rest of the juice I made into jelly&amp;nbsp; it gave me 15 1/2 pound, some has already been given away. 		<title>Water Pan Check</title>

		<description>I learned a trick from my brother a few years ago while using his steamer / juicer. Now that I have bought one for myself I use his method of making sure water is always in the water pan. &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Place several small glass marbles in the pan, then add water and start the heating process. The marbles will bounce / rattle while there is water in the pan. When the water gets low the marbles will cease to bounce / rattle and the water level should be checked. Pouring cold water in a hot pan causes problems - the marbles will crack as well as lots of stress on the pan.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;</description>
