Reply with quote | #2 | The differences between the Mehu-Maija and Mehu-Liisa are several. The primary one is that, given the age of your unit, it may be all or partially fabricated aluminum.
At that time there were all aluminum; stainless top parts w/aluminum waterpan; and all stainless models. Also, it is probably a 12 liter size. That means that the demensions are a bit larger than the more streamlined Mehu-Liisa.
Finally, the Mehu-Maija was manufactured by Alu Oy, an aluminum fabricator in Finland. Sometime in early 90's the factory burned down and caused the company to go bankrupt. At that time my father started buying from Opa Oy who manufacture the Mehu-Liisa.
The Mehu-Liisa is a smaller, more efficient and economical 10 liter size designed to be more effective in a modern kitchen. It is also high quality 18/10 gauge stainless throughout with an aluminum layer in the base of the waterpan sandwiched between stainless to increase steadier more consitant heat distribution.
So, there you go...a brief historic comparison of Mehu-Maija and Mehu-Liisa. Hope that helps.
Take Care Daniel
